The New Department of Labor (DOL) rules came into effect the beginning of January 2020. Overtime rules are confusing to understand and implementation is generally a challenge. However, several states came forward with legal action and in the end never came to pass. The federal Department of Labor released final legislation to update the salary threshold in September 2019.
